Vacuum Insulated Tubing

Vacuum Insulated Tubing

The "insulation pipe" for heavy oil thermal extraction, used in heavy oil thermal extraction (injecting steam) and geothermal wells, is a double-layer concentric special oil pipe consisting of an inner tube, an outer tube, and an intermediate insulation layer. Through double-layer vacuum insulation, it reduces heat loss from high-temperature steam and serves as a critical well column for high-temperature underground extraction.

Product specifications: 2-7/8″~4-1/2″

Grade: N80-1/Q, L80, P110

    Features

    Double-layer vacuum/insulation structure

The inner pipe carries high-temperature steam (≤350–400°C). The intermediate insulation layer blocks the three modes of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation, resulting in a lower thermal conductivity compared to ordinary steel pipes.

    Prestress design

The inner tube is pre-stretched to apply tensile stress, compensating for thermal expansion at high temperatures to prevent pipe column bending and fracture, making it suitable for long-term operation in 300–400°C conditions.

    High strength + corrosion resistance

The inner and outer tubes are made of N80/P110/super duplex steel, offering resistance to internal pressure, external compression, and corrosion from H₂S/CO₂.

    Metal seal + API thread

Buttress threads + metal sealing ring ensure no leakage under high temperature and pressure conditions, with thermal insulation at the coupling area to reduce heat loss at joints.

    Advantages

    • Significantly reduce heat loss

By utilizing vacuum and multi-layer reflective shields, it suppresses conductive, convective, and radiative heat dissipation, reducing heat loss by 85% to 90% compared to single-layer ordinary oil pipes.

    • Protective casing and cement sheath

Reduce thermal shock to cement rings, minimize cracking of cement rings, extend the service life of casing tubes, and decrease the frequency of well intervention operations.

    • The internal pipe prestressed structure exhibits excellent stability at high temperatures

The pipe columns are not prone to bending, bulging, or instability. They can withstand multiple hot-cold cycles and are suitable for multi-cycle steam injection and shutdown alternating operating conditions.
